WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

We invite you to help shape a platform of ideas that can turn into the constructive, future-oriented politics of our time, anchored by a belief in the possibility of a brighter future if humanity works together to achieve it.

The Abundance Project is a forum for debate, discussion, and learning in that ambitious pursuit. We do not yet have the answers, and only together will we arrive at something durable and worth doing.

That said, we want to share and constantly refine what we believe. Intellectual curiosity and debate are vital ingredients to the political project we seek to design and make real. Our current view is that positive political change should be built around the foundational concepts of:

A desire for a future of abundance
A goal for every human being to be safe, healthy, and materially prosperous
A pursuit of equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome
A moral anchor in our shared humanity, in which everyone is equally and fully human, with all the flaws, strength, and responsibility that entails
A restoration of civic-mindedness and commitment to public service

On the level of policy in the United States, we see several areas of exploration, debate, and refinement to tackle at the outset of the Abundance Project:

Increased local control through a commitment to subsidiarity, moving decision-making as close as possible to the context in which its outcome will be expressed and experienced
A renewed commitment to multigenerational common good and associational life, rejecting isolated hyper-individualism, and promoting community and family of all types
A return to the capacity to build things in the United States, from housing to critical infrastructure, unlocked by a reset and redesign of the sedimentary layers of local, state, and federal regulation
A centering of the importance of wage earners to our economy and societal health, where higher wages lead to increased economic dynamism, productivity, and shared prosperity
A restatement of an environmentalism of abundance focused on the maximization and resilience of human prosperity in the face of accelerating ecosystem change
A hope that America can, at its best, be a powerful force for good in the world while taking care of our own citizens
